Strawberries are a little more difficult to overdo because they’re quite a lot bigger than grapes. If you consumed as many strawberries as grapes, you would most likely get pretty sick.

How to eat strawberries

A great thing about strawberries is that they are fantastic with cream, either whipped, sweet or heavy. And nothing is comparable to a delicious piece of strawberry shortcake.

Although strawberries are great with fruit salads, desserts and appetizers, better eat them raw to get the best health benefit.

Pros of strawberries

Rich in antioxidants

Help your body combat stroke, heart attack and alzheimer’s disease

Strawberries are full of minerals and vitamins

If you prefer a fruit that you can place into a tiny plastic baggy and take along with you, there are always grapes. Grapes are quite good for snacks. They’re small and simple to eat. Of course it’s relatively easy to lose count of how many that you’ve eaten and they can disappear on you really fast. Just be sure you have a bathroom handy if you eat too many of these.

Pros of grapes

Cleanse and detoxifies the body system

Good for weight loss

Reduces coronary heart disease risks

Reduces cancer risks

Good source of vitamin A, B, B6, C and folate

Reduces cholesterol

Contains minerals like calcium, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus, iron, manganese, selenium, copper and zinc

Contains fibers and protein

Apples are not as convenient as bananas and not as easily eaten. For one thing, they must be washed because most people consume the skin of an apple.

And then, unless you’ve got really very strong teeth, you’re more than likely going to be required to cut the apple into thin slices. Eating an entire apple, especially one that’s particularly crisp, takes a good set of teeth. Keep in mind, apples that come in the winter are not very tasty. Many are tender and mushy and don’t have as nice of a flavor.

Apple diet plan

With the success of 3 apples a day or 5 apples a day plans, more and more studies show the health benefits of apples in your diet.

Many bananas are even still green when they arrive to your store and might even require a day or two before you’ll want to try them, even though green bananas do not hurt you, in spite of what high amounts of people think.

Also, bananas are really easy to come by. You are not required to wash them and you can just put one in your lunch bag and when you’re looking to eat it, just open and enjoy.

Calculating the environmental impact and carbon emission of the organic food we buy can be confusing.

Unless you’re residing in a warm or tropical country, it’s often an impossibility to get organic fruit locally for all seasons.

If you’re living in a colder place, you usually have to depend on orgnaic fruit imports; and by it’s time of arrival, you’re pretty much consuming a fruit that might be organic but which was not carbon neutral at all.

If you care about the environment, then you can try to select local farms which produce organic fruit with the season.

If you’re lucky enought to live in a warm country, you can get very good organic fruits which not only taste great but are also of great health benefits.

Food miles

Food miles are the distance that food travels from farm to your plate. This include your own mileage consumption when you got to the supermarket.

Air transport

Fresh fruit and vegetables arriving by cargo plane from around the world cloack up the most CO2 emissions.

Home-grown fruits

Home-grown is not always better, especially for off-the natural season fruits as refrigeration requires energy and contributes to climate change.

Fruit Labelling

Carbon ‘foodprint’ labelling is the future and will allow enviroementally conscious consumers to choose which fruits and other food products they want to buy.

The first type is the simple fruit; it’s developed from a single ovary. Simple fruits are further divided into two types, which also have respective classifications. Fleshy simple fruits have soft pericarp, or ovary walls, that are mostly edible such as those in tomatoes and grapes.

The second type of simple fruits is dry fruit; this simple fruit has hard pericarp like legumes, grains, and nuts.

The third type of fruit is the aggregate fruit. This type is developed from a single flower that has many ovaries like the blackberries and strawberries. Multiple fruits are the third type of fruit formed from many flowers clustered together in one inflorescence usually surrounding a fleshy stem axis. Pineapples, mulberries, and jackfruits are few of the examples in this type of fruit.

Cereal grains are technically fruits called caryopsis, although its fruit wall is very thin and fused to the seed coat so almost all the edible parts of grains are actually seed. Lycopene containing fruits such as tomatoes and berries release better its lycopene substance after it has been processed by heat in cooking.
